Dear Volunteers,
It is a bittersweet moment in which I am writing this to all of you. Due to family issues I have to leave Peace Corps Nicaragua. My last day in Peace Corps was May 13, 2016.
I must say this is quite difficult for me to write.
During the past 15 years, I have learned so much about my country and my people through each one of the volunteers I treated as a patient. I have traveled almost everywhere in Nicaragua and talked to people from all over, experiencing the good heart of Nicaraguans. That has made appreciate and love even more this Patria mia.
I’ve learned so much about the United States culture, too. I learned how Americans are honest, hate lies, will fight against injustice and for equality, among other things.
Being a volunteer is not an easy job. You see, you are actually building up the Peace among Nations. It might not seem that way most of the time, but it is true. Every time you get on a bus, every day you go to the houses of host country nationals, in every single class or visit to the health center, you deal with all the differences in culture.
There are so many things that I want to say… but it is so hard at this time. In my belief, God listens faster to a mother that prays for her children. My prayers have always been with you since the day I came, and will always be with all of you.
It has been an honor working with you in this amazing job of building up Peace. It has been a pleasure to take care of each one of you.
Please take care of yourselves and remember you are unico y unica.
Here is my personal e-mail: mlcruz999 AT gmail.com
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Peace Corps Nicaragua, and I will remember each one of you. I wish you all well and thank you.

Gracias!
